Music, mp3's, and guitar tabs

Almost every person I've seen discuss the songs says that they're nothing special. I guess they're right. I mean, I wouldn't want the soundtrack on cd. Aw, who am i kidding, yes I would, I just wouldn't listen to it very often. Lets move on.

By the way, if anyone has any midis of any music from The fox and the hound, then please send them to me. You see, I have this nifty program that allows me to convert midis into guitar tab or even sheet music.  Anyway, please send them.

New!

My original tab has been corrected quite a bit by a helpful soul from France, Clement.  He added the other parts I didn't try, so go check out the new version!  Thanks Clement!

Goodbye May Seem Forever tab

"Best of Friends"
Music by Richard O. Johnston, Lyrics by Stan Fidel

The only song to make it onto Disney compilations and such is, of course, "Best of Friends". It's really a fine tune. I think the lyrics are good, I kind of wish that the world would just let me play sometimes. My favorite part is the cheerful "hoo!" that Pearl Bailey adds after one of the verses.

"Lack of Education"
Music and Lyrics by Jim Stafford

The next song is "Lack of Education", which is really a plot song. It consists of Big Mama, Dinky, and Boomer trying to warn Todd that Copper will no longer be his friend when he gets back from the hunting trip. Todd still refuses to give up hope. Most of the lyrics are spoken, by the way.

"A Huntin' Man"
Music and Lyrics by Jim Stafford

"Huntin' Man" can't really be called a song. Yet it is mentioned in the opening it credits so here it shall go! The song lasts for like 10 seconds, while Amos is coming back from the hunting trip. Not much else to say about it, really.

"Goodbye May Seem Forever"
Music by Richard Rich, Lyrics by Jeffrey Patch

Now comes my favorite song of the group, "Goodbye May Seem Forever". The song occurs when Tweed decides to drop Todd off at the Game preserve, after Amos threatens Todd's life. It starts off with a Widow Tweed monologue, followed by a mournful harmonica solo, and a final verse by a chorus. This is song is very sad, yet beautiful, which is always a good thing in my book. Even the dated chorus sounds okay here. This is the only scene that makes me cry, and boy does it. The time I watched the movie after a 2 year hiatus, I was really bawling. Anyway, I just love that harmonica bit. It makes me want to learn to play the harmonica!

"Appreciate The Lady"
Music and Lyrics by Jim Stafford

The final song is "Appreciate the Lady". It once again features Big Mama, as she gives Todd a few pointers on how to, well, appreciate the lady. In a related note, why is Todd so angry after he fails to catch a fish? Whenever I see that scene, I think "dude, this is an idea situation. you got her to laugh, you've broken the ice, what else could you want". And then he goes and calls Vixey an empty headed female! Chill out, man!

Best of Friends
